ABOUT
“ASAKUSA CULTURE & LIGHTS 2025” will be held at Senso-ji (Taito Ward, Tokyo) from Wed, December 3 to Sun, December 7, 2025.
This event will feature cutting-edge digital animations and magnificent projection mapping visuals inspired by the 1,400-year history and culture of Senso-ji, projected onto the temple's Hozo-mon Gate, Five-storied Pagoda, and the Important Cultural Property Niten-mon Gate.
Alongside the projection mapping, special daytime viewings will offer rare access to the normally closed scenic spot, the Denboin Garden, located within the temple grounds. Visitors can also view the Ema Hall, which houses large votive plaques (ema) painted by historical artists such as Utagawa Kuniyoshi, Hasegawa Settan, and Henmi (Kano) Kazunobu. Special nighttime viewings will provide a unique opportunity to experience the Denboin Garden illuminated by fantastical lights.
Please enjoy this grand projection mapping event, the first of its kind in Senso-ji's history, along with the special experience of viewing the historic Denboin Garden and the Ema Hall, which are being opened to the public for the first time in seven years.
