Special Viewing of Senso-ji Denboin Garden and Ema Hall

This Special Viewing offers a rare opportunity to see two sites within the grounds of Senso-ji that are not normally open to the public: Denboin Garden, and the Ema Hall, which houses around 50 large votive ema paintings by historic artists such as Utagawa Kuniyoshi, Hasegawa Settan, and Henmi (Kano) Kazunobu. Tickets are valid for both day and night, with re-entry permitted. A "sea of clouds" effect runs in Denboin Garden during the day and at night, and the night-only "Kinryu Yakai (Golden Dragon Night)" illuminates the garden with fantastical lighting and present an original dance inspired by the "Golden Dragon Dance." A limited number of tickets bundled with the illustrated catalog "The Ema of Senso-ji" will also be available.

*The sea-of-clouds effect is staged for about 10 minutes roughly once every 30 minutes between 9:00 AM and 8:30 PM. For the night-only "Kinryu Yakai" Denboin Garden is illuminated from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and an original dance of about 5 minutes is performed outside the Ema Hall at 5:00 PM, 5:30 PM, 6:00 PM, 6:30 PM, 7:00 PM, 7:30 PM and 8:00 PM.

Notes for Visiting Special Viewing of Senso-ji Denboin Garden and Ema Hall

*Photography is allowed in Denboin Garden, but photography is prohibited inside the Ema Hall. Tripods, selfie sticks, and other supporting equipment may not be used in Denboin Garden.

*Congestion in the surrounding area may make it take longer to reach the entrance. Please allow plenty of time before your visit.

*Denboin Garden and the Ema Hall have many gravel paths and stairs, and no ramps are installed. Staff also do not hold caregiving qualifications and cannot provide physical assistance. Thank you for your understanding.

[Kinryu Yakai - Performing Artist]

Hanabi -華美- (Japanese-style Jazz Dance Team / Director: MIWA)

A Japanese-style jazz dance team formed by director MIWA. Made up of 20 members in total, including main members and trainees, the group performs under the theme of "dancing from the heart, dance that reaches the heart," expressing an elegant world where Japanese and Western styles harmonize. Known for its glamorous stage performances, the team wears costumes inspired by kimono and uses a variety of props such as fans, Japanese umbrellas, and masks. The group has performed on stages both in Japan and abroad, including the opening act for the finals of Nippon Television's "THE DANCE DAY" and as Japan's representative at the opening ceremony of the East Asia Cultural City in Gimhae.
